Today has been our first day
in India. We arrived in Mahatma Gandhi airport at 7:30 am with a huge lack of
sleep and exhausted eyes after a long flight. Since we stepped out of the
airport, we were overwhelmed by impressions of a huge crowd of people, the
crazy traffic and the thick air filled with pollution: We have arrived in a new
different world today.
We have experienced the
Connaught Place. A market filled with small stands with jewellery, street
kitchens and what else the heart desires in India. From everywhere the eye
turns, you will see women in colourful saris, tall empowering buildings and
small tunnels with stands in every corner. When you walk through the tunnels
there are people everywhere trying to get your attention and selling us things
from their shops.
There are a constant humming
of people and honking from cars and scooters in the background, which can be
very overwhelming and chaotic, especially when you walk on the streets. When
crossing the streets, you are in a constant fear of getting ran over by a
rickshaw, scooter or car. But here in India people are well-known in the
traffic, and it is not as much chaos for them, then for us. They are considerate
about us tourists when we walk across the streets, but we still have to be
aware, when we walk in what is for us a chaotic and stressing traffic.
My, Ellen and Clara
Thanks for the fine story and enjoy
